Honor Society® Expert FAQ
Do you need to submit FAFSA every year?
Yes. Complete a FAFSA for each award year in which you want consideration for federal student aid. A prior application or award does not automatically secure next year’s funding.
What to know before you act
Review the new form carefully even if some information carries over. Your school, enrollment plans, family circumstances, or required tax year may differ. Contributors may need to provide information and consent again.
Also renew any state, institutional, or outside scholarship applications separately. Those programs may have their own deadlines and academic conditions. Set a calendar reminder before your college’s priority date, then verify that the school receives a complete file. This prevents a renewable award from being lost simply because a required step was missed.
Your next steps
- Use the form for your upcoming attendance year.
- Update information according to that form’s instructions.
- Check renewal requirements for each scholarship and grant.
For the next step, use the fafsa preparation guide. Organize documents, contributor steps, award years, and follow-up tasks.
