Honor Society® Expert FAQ
How do you make the dean's list?
To make the dean’s list, meet your college’s academic and enrollment requirements for the relevant term. Start with the official rules, then build a study plan that supports consistent work across the courses that count.
Turn the goal into weekly decisions
Review each syllabus for major assignments, exams, grading weights, and attendance expectations. Put the deadlines into one calendar and schedule time for preparation, not just submission. Use instructor office hours, tutoring, and feedback early when a concept is unclear.
A demanding schedule is not automatically the best path. Choose a manageable course load with your adviser while checking the minimum graded credits required for eligibility. Before switching a course to pass/fail or withdrawing, ask how the change would affect degree progress, aid, and recognition.
Put the answer into practice
- Confirm the exact GPA and credit rules.
- Create a weekly plan around upcoming work.
- Review returned assignments for recurring mistakes.
- Ask for academic help while there is still time to improve.
Treat dean’s list as a possible result of sustained learning, not a promise. If one term does not meet the criteria, use what you learned to adjust the next term rather than interpreting the outcome as a fixed judgment of ability.
