My Journey to Becoming a Deputy Sheriff
My name is Alexandria Beasley, and I am proud to call Citrus County, Florida, my home. I currently work for the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office as a Deputy Sheriff Recruit while attending the police academy at Withlacoochee Technical College. Becoming a law enforcement officer has been a goal I have worked hard toward, and I am proud to be taking the steps necessary to turn that goal into a career.
My interest in law enforcement comes from my desire to serve my community and help people when they need it most. I understand that being a deputy sheriff comes with a tremendous amount of responsibility, and I want to build the knowledge, discipline, and experience necessary to handle that responsibility professionally.
Attending the police academy has been both challenging and rewarding. Every day, I am learning something new and developing skills that will be important throughout my career. My training includes areas such as Florida law, defensive tactics, firearms, emergency vehicle operations, communications, and other aspects of law enforcement.
Before beginning my law enforcement career, I spent three years in JROTC, where I developed leadership, teamwork, discipline, and accountability. Those experiences helped prepare me for the expectations of the academy and have given me a strong foundation to build upon.
Being able to work for the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office while attending the academy is especially meaningful to me because I am preparing to serve the community I call home. I have the opportunity to learn not only in the classroom but also through my experiences with the agency and the people around me.
I know that becoming a deputy sheriff will require dedication, continued training, and a willingness to learn throughout my career. I am prepared to put in that work. My goal is to become a dependable, professional, and compassionate law enforcement officer who can make a positive difference in the lives of the people I serve.
This is only the beginning of my journey, but I am proud of how far I have come. I am excited for what the future holds and look forward to the day I can officially earn my badge and serve Citrus County as a sworn deputy sheriff.
