Honor Society® Expert FAQ
Can online students receive federal financial aid?
Online students can receive federal financial aid when the institution, program, and student meet federal requirements. Online delivery alone neither qualifies nor disqualifies a program.
What to know before you act
Ask the school to confirm participation for the exact degree or certificate, not just the institution overall. Short courses, noncredit programs, and some certificates may have different rules. Enrollment level, academic progress, and other eligibility conditions still apply.
Compare total costs, including technology charges, required travel, equipment, and course materials. Honor Society’s scholarship directory can help online learners search beyond campus awards; verify that each listing accepts the institution and enrollment format before preparing a full application.
Your next steps
- Get written confirmation of the program’s federal-aid eligibility.
- Complete the correct FAFSA and school requirements.
- Compare approved costs and scholarship enrollment restrictions.
