Honor Society® Expert FAQ

How do you describe coursework on a résumé?

Include coursework on a résumé when it helps show preparation for the specific role, especially before you have extensive related experience. Choose a few relevant courses or projects rather than reproducing your transcript.

Use coursework to fill a relevant evidence gap

A course title alone may not explain what you can do. If a class produced a substantial project, describe the method, tool, and your contribution in a project section. For example, an economics course might support a bullet about analyzing a dataset and presenting findings, if that is work you actually completed.

Distinguish completed courses from current or planned ones. Do not list a future course as mastered knowledge. As stronger work experience develops, coursework can shrink or disappear from the résumé. The test is whether it adds evidence the employer would otherwise miss.

Your next steps

  • Select courses connected to the role’s requirements.
  • Highlight substantial projects and your individual contribution.
  • Label in-progress work and remove courses that add little value.
