Being A Good Example For Children

Jun 28,2017

Mark chapter ten (from the Bible) verses thirteen through fourteen state:

And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them.

But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.

In this passage Jesus is displeased by the disciples for failing to encourage the children to come to Him. Historically, Jesus is known as the only person on this Earth to not sin. Every adult including parents should want children to surround themselves with such a good example. Some adults do not see the point. It matters what influences are around children.

I know of a few families who allowed their children’s boyfriend/girlfriend (over eighteen) to share a bedroom in the parents’ house. These couples were not married to each other. Both couples also did not have jobs with enough money or benefits to take care of themselves at the current time and especially if a child resulted from the partnerships.

Both couples, though loved by their families, are also a burden to said families. One couple is currently still living at one of their parents’ house. This same couple is high very often. The other couple has a beautiful child and one of the parents from that couple just had a child with another person-this time with someone he/she barely knows. This person keeps having children even though his/her job situation never got better. The person’s mom gives him/her material items that he/she as a responsible adult should be doing for himself/herself. The mother has given him/her large material possessions without a requirement to pay a large amount of the bill since this person became an adult over ten years ago. This person keeps messing up because he/she knows that a bailout from mom is around the corner.

And now the mother is having financial troubles because she keeps bailing her irresponsible children out of trouble. Her grandchildren are very disrespectful to older adults. One of the grandchildren is always in trouble in school.

Not only is the mother a poor decision maker when it comes to money but she is constantly publicly rude to people she does not like. The grandchildren mimic her.

As a three-time college graduate who works hard everyday of my life to get ahead I want to sit down and talk to the kids. I want to tell them what it takes to get just a fraction of attention from the right people who will give them a job opportunity and other social connections. I want to tell them of the entrepreneurial mindset it takes to open up the possibilities of various streams of revenue in case economic trends halt hopes of obtaining employment for one of their job interests.

I can’t do this. The children have chosen to ignore alot of the things worthy of honor in this life. And the examples from their parents and grandparents- disrespect, working one job and then coming home to watch television-do little to ease the pain.

I know that I told a story in this article. I did not give advice. I hope that by reading these stories someone decides to break the generational patterns the destroy so many families.

Thanks for reading.
