December 2016 – Monthly Writing Challenge

In life, we are thrown curve balls, learn from our mistakes and achieve our most desirable goals.  Our life may seem overwhelming at times, just like during preparing for end of semester exams, but we must deter ourselves from becoming negative towards our productivity.  It took you this long to get to this point, so why occupy your mind with discouragementby telling yourself that you just can’t do it.

Keep doing what you are doing and your motivation will help cross off the final days left in the semester.  Remember that nothing is impossible and that you are not alone.  Working hard will help you reach your goals but if you allow stress to be your enemy, over thinking will knock you down.  You will need to brush your knees off and jump back in and repeat to yourself, ‘I am not going to give up.’

The end of the semester can be entirely demanding, exam after exam, but there are ways to make it more endurable.  Recollect your thoughts, get a good amount of sleep, remember breakfast is the most important meal of the day, ask questions, and prioritize.  If you are still feeling completely overwhelmed, take breaks and remember to put yourself first.

Stress can be the beast but if you can remember one thing that your parents taught you growing up, it is to take a step back, take a deep breath and stay calm.  Don’t let your life become the offspring of pressure, become a warrior or just remember what Dory says, “just keep swimming.”
