My Member Spotlight Scholarship!
Oct 26,2016
My name is Shuzo Hamada. I’m a sophomore studying cello performance at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. IU is a very big school, but belonging to the music school gives me a place in a community that is comfortable in size. Instrumental study is such a specialized form of education (more like an apprenticeship), so it’s important that one gets along well with their teacher. My cello professor is absolutely fantastic. I am surrounded by talented colleagues who keep me inspired and motivated. When I’m not practicing, I love to make YouTube videos. One of my goals is to find a way to combine my two passions, cello and video, into one new thing. With this Member Spotlight Scholarship, which I feel very fortunate to receive, I plan on purchasing an amplifier for my electric cello and a new wide-angel camera lens. With these new tools, I can experiment and create new music and videos and move another step closer to merging my two passions.
