Undergraduate Achiever Scholarship

Jan 20,2017

My name is Alexis Alston and I am a Mass Media major with a minor in Recording Arts. I am apart of Honor Society, Traditions Council, Residence Hall Association, and A small production team. Soon I hope to be apart of University Ambassadors, Student Government Association and become an RA. Some things that are interesting about me are I am a junior in college but I am 25 years old. I am originally from Detroit, MI where I didn’t have a good high school education so I did not do well when I first started out in college. It has taken some years to finally be at the level I need to be at and a lot of hard work. Last semester I got straight A’s for the first time in my life and I could not believe it. It boosted my GPA but it also gave me the confidence to feel like I belong in my institution just as much as anyone else does. It also gave me the confidence to do things like apply for this honor society scholarship because I would have never thought that I could get something like this before. Next year I will need all the help I can get paying for my final year of college because I do not have financial aid to lean on anymore. This is why Scholarships like these will be crucial to me being able to pay for my last year of school. I plan on saving this scholarship to help pay my tuition costs next year and finally graduate at the age of 26. I am so thankful for this scholarship and for someone believing in me enough to invest in my life and education. I do not take it for granted. Thank You Honor Society!
