Honor Society® Expert FAQ
How do you appeal a lost scholarship?
You can request reconsideration if the scholarship provider offers an appeal process. Start with the exact reason the award was lost and the policy governing renewal or eligibility.
What to know before you act
An effective appeal explains what happened, supplies relevant evidence, and presents a realistic plan for meeting the requirement. If the issue is a recorded grade or enrollment error, request correction rather than treating it as a request for an exception. If circumstances changed, explain their timing and impact without claiming an automatic entitlement to reinstatement.
A scholarship appeal and a satisfactory-academic-progress appeal may be separate processes. Ask which offices must review your case and whether any temporary payment arrangement is available while a decision is pending.
Your next steps
- Find the appeal deadline and required form.
- Attach concise documentation relevant to the stated reason.
- Explain your recovery plan and request a written decision.
