Honor Society® Expert FAQ
What are outside scholarships?
Outside scholarships are awards from organizations other than the college you attend. Providers can include community groups, employers, professional associations, charitable organizations, and scholarship programs.
What to know before you act
Each provider sets eligibility and application requirements. Your school still needs to know about an outside award so it can coordinate payment and any changes to your aid package. Confirm whether funds go to the college or directly to you.
Honor Society’s own scholarship collection and its broader scholarship directory provide two useful starting points: one for its award programs and one for discovering additional leads. Verify which organization administers each award and use that provider’s current instructions.
Your next steps
- Search by location, field, education stage, and relevant experience.
- Verify provider identity and current award terms.
- Report confirmed awards to your financial aid office.
