Continuing my education has taught me that success does not always happen according to a perfect timeline. Sometimes progress means continuing to move forward while balancing responsibilities, overcoming setbacks, and refusing to give up on the goals you have set for yourself.
As a working mother, I have had to balance my education with raising my children, maintaining a career, and managing the responsibilities that come with everyday life. There have been times when completing my degree would have been easier to postpone, but I have continued working toward my bachelor’s degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice and now have only a few credits remaining.
My professional journey has also allowed me to gain experience in government services, healthcare, insurance, claims, and customer service. Each position has strengthened different skills, including communication, problem-solving, advocacy, patience, and the ability to work with people from many different backgrounds.
Education is only one part of my growth. I am also participating in a leadership development program because I want to become a stronger and more effective leader. My goal is not simply to earn another credential. I want to continue developing the skills necessary to advance professionally, create greater opportunities for my family, and eventually mentor and encourage others who may be working toward their own goals while facing challenges along the way.
One of the biggest lessons I have learned is that progress does not have to be perfect to matter. Life can interrupt our plans, responsibilities can change, and setbacks can happen. What matters is continuing to move forward.
I am proud of how far I have come, but I also recognize that I still have more to learn and accomplish. Completing my degree is an important next step, and I look forward to continuing my education, developing as a leader, and using my experiences to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
