Honor Society® Expert FAQ
Can you request more financial aid after admission?
Yes, you can ask a college whether additional aid is available after admission. The right route may be a special-circumstances review, merit reconsideration, departmental award, or application for remaining funding.
What to know before you act
Explain the actual affordability gap and provide requested evidence. If another college’s offer is relevant, share it accurately; schools are not required to match it. Distinguish a one-time adjustment from renewable aid and ask whether the change affects other awards.
Continue a focused outside-scholarship search while waiting. Honor Society’s directory can expand the list of awards to investigate, but pending applications should not be counted as guaranteed funding when accepting an enrollment commitment.
Your next steps
- Ask which review options are available and their deadlines.
- Compare the full net cost, not only the grant amount.
- Get revised terms in writing before changing your budget.
For the next step, use the compare financial aid offers. Use a worked example and worksheet to compare net price, loans, and renewal conditions.
