Honor Society® Expert FAQ

How can AI help students learn?

AI can help students learn by offering alternative explanations, practice questions, and feedback on attempted work. Its value depends on whether those interactions improve understanding rather than merely produce an answer.

Use assistance to strengthen your own reasoning

Start with your own attempt and ask for a hint or a question that exposes a gap. For example: “Here is my explanation of supply and demand. Identify one unclear assumption and ask me to clarify it before giving an explanation.” Compare feedback with course material because AI can confidently introduce errors.

Use an independent check afterward: explain the concept without the chat or solve a new problem. Honor Society’s study-practice guide provides a structure for this approach. Follow the instructor’s rules, and choose a human tutor when you need expert diagnosis or sustained guidance.

Your next steps

  • Attempt the task before asking for help.
  • Request targeted questions or hints and verify the feedback.
  • Test yourself independently on a different example.
